Come get a close look at the art and craft of batik - creating pattern on fabric by using wax to control (resist) where the cloth is dyed. During this two-hour lecture/demo/trunk show, you'll learn about batik while watching your instructor, Jessica Kaufman, batik cotton yardage using hand-carved wood blocks, natural beeswax, and fiber-reactive dyes.

What to expect:

  • A live demonstration of wax-resist dyeing, wax removal, and intricate surface design techniques, a behind-the-scenes look at the step-by-step process of crafting batik fabrics.
  • A six-page color handout with resources and shoppable links to kickstart your batik journey.
  • Exclusive shopping for one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted batik fabric packs - produced one yard at a time and available only in person!

Don't miss your chance to be introduced (or re-introduced!) to batik, a wonderfully creative and expressive surface-design technique!
