Image: Attrition by Rachel Myrick is a deeply textured reflection on place, memory, and the passage of time. Created with wool roving, wool fabric, beads, and embroidery thread, this evocative work brings together needle felting, beadwork, and embroidery to build layered surfaces rich with tactile detail.
Inspired by Rachel’s experiences in Oaxaca, Mexico, Attrition draws specifically from the weathered ruins of Yagul and Monte Albán. The piece echoes the eroded stone, organic textures, and quiet resilience found in these ancient landscapes. Every material and stitch is intentionally chosen, inviting viewers to feel the slow wearing of time and the enduring beauty left behind.
