Ready to add a pop of color to your knitting? This class is perfect for knitters looking to brighten up solid-colored garments or extend the palette of a multicolored masterpiece. Together, we’ll explore 10 different colorful edging techniques. You’ll choose 2 or 3 to practice during class, and you'll receive a detailed handout with swatch instructions for all 10 styles to take home.

Techniques covered include multi-color corrugated ribbing (in three variations), multi-color picot edgings (in two variations), and creative edge finishes that lie flat—no garter or ribbing required! Some styles may be familiar, others totally new—but all are fun to knit and sure to elevate your work.

Your instructor, Varian Brandon began knitting at age eight, but a trip to the British Isles later rekindled her love of color and sparked a lasting interest in Fair Isle design and construction. She now designs stranded colorwork patterns for various yarn companies and her own website, with her work featured in publications such as Yarnwise, PLY, and Interweave Knits. Varian is also the author of Waiting, a collection of colorwork hat patterns. Based in Saluda, North Carolina, she has taught stranded colorwork and related techniques for over 19 years at local yarn shops, fiber festivals, and retreats—including the long-running Kanuga Knitting and Quilting Retreat.
