If you’ve ever wanted to try weaving, this beginner-friendly class is the perfect place to start! You’ll learn how to use a rigid heddle loom—a simple yet versatile tool ideal for creating lightweight pieces like placemats, dish towels, scarves, and even fabric for garments.

In just one day, you'll explore the parts of the loom, learn about suitable yarns, discover pattern possibilities, practice changing colors, and see how to finish your woven pieces. You'll leave with a hands-on sampler you can refer to in the future, along with a strong foundation of skills that will carry over to other types of weaving.

Your Instructor, Elke Shubert was born and raised in Germany, where she learned to knit and crochet from her mother, aunt, and grandmother at a very young age. Her passion for fiber arts never wavered, and she later added spinning and weaving to her repertoire. For over 11 years, Elke has been teaching spinning, weaving, and knitting classes, and each year she brings history to life by demonstrating her craft in full medieval costume at the Georgia Renaissance Festival. She shares her home (and her love of fiber arts!) with her husband, three parrots, and two cats.
