In this class, you'll begin by creating a kitchen set—including a crumb brush, pot scrubber, and cake tester—to get comfortable using the tying box. Next, you'll make a flicker broom to learn the "V-up" technique. From there, you’ll choose from a variety of broom styles such as angels, turkeys, hens, doubles, and more. A wide selection of cord and plaiting colors will be available, along with a limited assortment of dyed broomcorn for added creative flair.

Learning Objectives:

  • Master the basics of tying hand whisk brooms
  • Learn decorative plaiting techniques (optional)

Leave with multiple finished hand brooms and the skills to keep making more on your own!

Bev Larson, a skilled weaver since 1988 and an experienced instructor since 1999, brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to every class she teaches. Having shared her craft across the U.S.—from Indiana to Texas, Florida to New Mexico—and even on Basket Weaving Cruises in the Caribbean, Bev has taught thousands of students the joys of weaving. Her dedication to the craft was recognized in 2016 when she was named an Indiana Artisan for both basket weaving and broom making. With Bev as your guide, you'll not only learn a new skill but experience the joy of weaving in a supportive, creative setting.

Come unwind, express your creativity, and leave with a beautiful handmade basket! For more information about Bev and her work, visit BeeBee’s Baskets.
